Implementation of planned reconstruction

  • Infrastructural stock of sewage facilities has increased with constructing sewage system including approximately 400,000km and approximately 2000 WWTP in Japan
  • The No. of road caving caused by aged sewer pipe corruption increased, for example approximately 4,700 cases in 2007
  • In order to prevent accidents and malfunction, which affect daily life and social activities seriously, planned reconstruction has been implemented with considering minimizing lifecycle cost, levelling the peak cut of budget and how to make facility longer life.

Effectiveness of construction

  • By implementing measures for longer operation life, levelling the volume of work load and reducing a lot of life-cycle cost.
For example, at Katuragawa Ugan river basin sewage system- Rakusei WWTP in Kyoto, “replacing at economical life durability” instead of “standardized life durability” made the work load levelling allocation.

Averagely 1400 million yen per year can be reduced during for 50 years from 2008 to 2057
