JANS Concluded a Manufacturing Agreement of GNSS Prediction and Monitoring Equipment with Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation

JANS concluded a manufacturing agreement of GNSS prediction and monitoring equipment with Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation with the aim to promote introduction of advanced navigation system using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) in Fukuoka FIR. This system is scheduled to start its operation around 2020.
GNSS prediction and monitoring equipment monitors the performance of navigation by GNSS and predicts the navigation performance in Fukuoka FIR. Provision of the high precision prediction information and monitoring information corresponding to the respective aircraft performance to the flight operator will enable the operator to perform the navigation capability of aircraft at its full potential, thereby various effects such as improvement of operation efficiency can be expected.

・Comments by Mr. Iijima, Director General of Civil Aviation Bureau
“GNSS plays an important role in the future development of aviation.
Aircraft accommodating GNSS is becoming the global mainstream. Installation of GNSS prediction and monitoring equipment enables to provide flight operators with the high precision prediction information and monitoring information in Fukuoka FIR.
We expect that this will contribute to promotion of GNSS utilization and to the development of PBN navigation as well.”

・Comments by Mr. Haruyama, General Manager of Radio System Division, Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation
“We appreciate the opportunity given to us to manufacture GNSS prediction and monitoring equipment. We recognize that this equipment is an important and quite promising system with the aim to make air traffic more efficient and to improve operation efficiency and ease the burden of system operators and flight operators.
We are committed to concentrate our abilities to steadily proceed and accomplish the manufacture of such an important infrastructure system with a firm belief that we will be able to contribute to the safety of air traffic.”

In addition to this system introduction in Fukuoka FIR, which will contribute to the development of PBN navigation, JANS plans to introduce GBAS to other airports and to further improve SBAS performance.

Satellite Navigation Monitoring Equipment

Satellite navigation monitoring equipment will be introduced to Fukuoka FIR with an aim to contribute to improve operation efficiency and safety through optimization of RAIM prediction and enhancement of GNSS surveillance, in addition to renewal of MSAS performance monitoring equipment.
