DG of VATM Visited Japanese Radar System

Director General Gia of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) came to Japan in March 2019 and visited Haneda Airport. He had a close look at NEC Operation and Reliability Management equipment (ORM) and NEC airport radars, which contribute to reliability improvement of CNS/ATM and effective coordination of monitoring control and maintenance of the system under the control.

VATM is an air navigation service provider and Japan Air Navigation Service (JANS) has been enhancing the partnership with them. Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC), in cooperation with VATM, has been working on a project from JFY2017 to JFY2019 at Phu Quoc International Airport, which has a goal to conduct demonstration experiments of Multilateration System (MLAT) for airport surface detection equipment. JANS has been supporting VATM in the soft infrastructure field.

Last November, JANS conducted a training program for five engineers from VATM, including the observation of the air control operation using MLAT at Haneda Airport and MLAT training being conducted at Iwanuma Training Center, which clarified the issues of the operation side for the introduction of MLAT in Vietnam. In addition, JANS held a technical cooperation meeting in Hanoi this January and provided the technical information to address the distinct issues.

JANS has successfully appealed the high performance of Japanese companies to solve problems and the high reliability of Japanese products through the introduction of actual operation cases and operational efficiency initiatives by JANS on the occasion of the visit by DG Gia.
