Mr. State Minister Shinsuke Suematsu holds talks with Mr. Tauch Chankosal, Secretary of State, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Kingdom of Cambodia, and concludes Memorandum of Cooperation in the sewage/drinage works.(2017/2/15)

On 15th February, 2017, Mr. Shinsuke Suematsu, State Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism held talks with Mr. Tauch Chankosal, Secretary of State, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Kingdom of Cambodia.
State Minister Mr. Suematsu and Secretary of State Mr. Tauch Chankosal exchanged views on initiatives in Cambodia relating to sewage/drinage systems, ports, urban transportation, roads, and motor vehicle inspection/registration.
With the formulation of a master plan for sewage/drinage systems in Phnom Penh, there is expected to be progress going forward in sewage system development, and thus coinciding with these talks, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) was signed and concluded to strengthen cooperative relations between the two ministries in the sewage/drinage works. This is the first MoC between the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Kingdom of Cambodia.
In order to strengthen inter-governmental cooperation in the sewage/drinage works, where efforts have previously been made between the two ministries, this MoC calls for collaboration in areas such as sewage system policy, construction/maintenance, legal systems, and development of human resources. This collaboration will involve exchange of information via workshops and other channels, initiatives such as surveys and research by dispatching experts and engineers, and other approaches.
