On 25th Nov. 2013, Senior Vice-Minister Kotaro Nogami attended the twenty-eighth regular session of the IMO Assembly, which is being held in London, and made his address on behalf of Japan. He highlighted Japan’s contributions to IMO activities including:
- IMO Member State Audit Scheme, through which Member States are subject to audit by the Organization on implementations of the IMO instruments;
- protection of marine environment; and
- anti-piracy measures
and announced that Japan is committed to make further contributions.
