In the past few decades, ASEAN countries have experienced remarkable economic growth and urbanisation. Not only ASEAN countries but also ITF (International Transport Forum) countries including Japan have been confronted with urban transport challenges — urban sprawl, traffic congestion, air pollution, safety, universal accessibility etc. — and accumulated their experiences on the issues.

　This seminar, hosted by Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), in commemoration of the 50^th anniversary of Japan’s membership in the OECD, is designed to share experiences and challenges on urban transport and to jointly explore future policy directions among the ASEAN-JAPAN STOM Leaders (Senior Transport Official Meeting, Vice-Ministers in charge of transport) and the ITF in partnership with the private sector.
　
　This seminar aims for the following:

• to promote quality transport in ASEAN and Japan
• to support further engagement of the ITF in Asia – particularly Southeast Asia
