Brief Summary of the G7 Transport Ministers’ Meeting

・The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism hosted the G7 Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Karuizawa, Nagano on September 23 - 25. This is the last one among ten G7 Minister-level Meetings which have been held in different regions in Japan.
 
・The G7 Transport Ministers’ Meeting is a meeting in which the G7 Transport Ministers and the European Commissioner for Transport get together, and take up as themes important issues relating to transport, and the society as a whole and discuss their future direction. The first such meeting was held in Frankfurt, Germany last year, and this is the second meeting of this kind, and the first such meeting held in Japan.
 
・At the meeting, the G7 Transport Ministers and the European Commissioner for Transport had discussions on “Development and widespread utilization of advanced technology for vehicles and roads” and “Basic strategy for developing new transport infrastructure and renovating aging and deteriorated transport infrastructure,” and announced the Ministers’ Declaration for each of them.
