Additional dispatch of experts to the Philippines

Having dispatched two experts to the Philippines, that was badly damaged by the typhoon ‘Haiyan’, based on the demand from the government of the Philippines to the government of Japan, MLIT will dispatch three experts additionally as follow:

・Period of dispatch (expected) : from 2 to 18 December 2013

Mr. Masaya Fukuhama
Research Coordinator for Water Environment, River Department, National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management

Mr. Takaaki Kusakabe
Research Coordinator for Earthquake Disaster Prevention, Research Center for Disaster Management, National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management

Mr. Koichi Sase
Deputy Director - General for Port and Airport Policy Planning Port and Airport Department Tohoku Regional Development Bureau, MLIT

・Missions :
In order to cooperate restoration and reconstruction from the typhoon disaster, experts will give advices to the government of the Philippines regarding its efforts such as grasping the disaster situation and developing a reconstruction policy, and will also assess the disaster situation.
