Warehousing

Warehousing as the industry in which received goods are stored in warehouses plays a vital role in logistics within Japan. Accordingly to ensure the appropriate operation of the warehousing industry in Japan the Warehousing Law has been enacted. In recent years given the demand for greater efficiency in distribution and more intense competition in the industry, the necessity to ease government regulations has been increasing. In response partial amendments to the Warehousing Law centering on a change from the entry regulations licensing system to a registration system, abolition of the prior notification fee system and legislating of the trunk room authorization system, were promulgated on June 8, 2001, and enacted on April 1, 2002.
