Reception of the WTTC Global Champion Award for Crisis Preparedness, Management & Recovery

We would like to announce that Japan has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 WTTC Global Champion Award for Crisis Preparedness, Management & Recovery that will be awarded at the 19th WTTC Global Summit to be held in Seville, Spain in April.
 
The WTTC Global Champion Awards are annual awards recognizing countries and public officials who have made notable achievements through their public policies and leadership. The award Japan is set to receive is an acknowledgement of its leadership in disaster preparedness and effective response systems. Japan is viewed as a world leader in crisis readiness and is held in high regard when it comes to its efforts in providing information etc. concerning disasters to the increasing number of foreign visitors and foreign residents in Japan. The award ceremony will take place at a Gala Dinner that will be held on Wednesday April 3, 2019 in Seville, Spain as part of the Global Summit activities.
 
About the WTTC (World Travel Tourism Council)
WTTC is a private non-profit organization consisting of approximately 150 members from the world’s leading companies in a wide range of industries including travel, airline, hotel and shipping. It was established in 1990 and is based in London.
 
About the WTTC Global Summit
This Summit is held annually by the WTTC and has approximately 1,000 attendants every year including those from international corporations and government officials from all member countries. (A Vice Commissioner from the Japan Tourism Agency represents the Japanese government at this event.)
 
Furthermore, on the following day of the award ceremony, Thursday April 4, there will be a so-called “Japan Updates Conference” where Japan will be able to share its current tourism situation with the world’s media.
