Creation of Local Tourism Communities

All over Japan, attractive tourist destinations are emerging through passionate and creative efforts. Here, we look at some of these local undertakings as a series of case studies that can serve as a reference for all those engaged in creating tourist destinations.
The Tourism Nation Promotion Basic Plan, approved by the Cabinet in June 2007, names targets such as extending the length of domestic travel for each Japanese tourist by 1 night and increasing the number of international visitors to Japan to 10 million. All over Japan, attractive tourist destinations are emerging through passionate and creative efforts, towards the ultimate goal of a tourism nation.
