Summary


Background of Inauguration

Policy Research Institute for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (PRILIT) was established on January 6, 2001 under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), in accordance with the reorganization of the central government ministries. It was originally the Construction Policy Research Center of former Ministry of Construction and the Transport Institute of former Ministry of Transport combined together with the enlarged personnel and body, in order to conduct research and studies with a broader view and enhanced expertise.

PRILIT is committed to conducting basic research on the systematic use, development and maintenance of the land, infrastructure, transport and tourism resources, in order to promote the policies of MLIT from a mid-long term viewpoint.


Outline of Services

The socio-economic trends in Japanese infrastructure management and transport policies are changing drastically owing to such factors as aging of population, internationalization, and diversification of peoplefs value, etc.

Therefore, in order to further promote infrastructure management and transport policies to ensure the true gwealthh of the peoplefs life in Japan, it is necessary to develop policies which correspond adequately to such drastic changes of socio-economic trends from a long-term viewpoint .

Policy Research Institute for Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (PRILIT) takes into account such socio-economic changes in conducting basic research and studies in broad fields of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
