Toward practical use of the Smart Cruise System |
- Public demonstration "Demo 2000"
The Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Construction will jointly conduct a public demonstration for the smart cruise system called "Smart Cruise 21 - Demo 2000" in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture for four days from Tuesday 28 November to Friday 1 December 2000.
During the demonstration, specialists and key people from both Japan and overseas will have an opportunity to ride in a vehicle equipped with state-of-the-art technologies developed through the joint performance test "Smart Cruise 21" which started in October 2000. At the Tsukuba International Congress Center, lectures and technical sessions will be held to present technologies used in the smart cruise system and to exchange opinions related to such technologies.
Support for Demo 2000 will come from 13 auto makers leading research and development of ASV (Advanced Safety Vehicle); Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway System Research Association organized (AHSRA) by 21 private companies; two foreign auto companies; three universities from Japan and overseas; and one domestic company.
