Section4 ITS deployment progress in Japan

Regional community ITS showcase -- Miyagi

- Miyagi ITS Showcase
The Miyagi ITS Showcase is a project which envisages providing congestion-free roads in time for the Miyagi National Athletic Meet, the 1st Athletic Meet for the Disabled, both in 2001, and the 2002 Soccer World Cup and accelerating the deployment of ITS in the Tohoku Region.
To draw up plans for fulfilling these purposes, a liaison council was founded in January 2000: the council consists of members from the regional offices of five ITS-related ministries and agencies, road administrators and the secretariat members for the above events.
The Sendai Branch Work Office of the Ministry of Construction has already started several activities as part of the ITS showcase, such as providing various information through its web site and mobile phones with Internet access.
