Free mobility assistance project to create a ubiquitous environment

To create a universal society in which everyone can participate, the "Free mobility assistance project" was started in fiscal 2003. This project will enable anyone, anywhere to access information at any time about destination, route to destination, and available transportation by utilizing IT. A system that can exchange information in a manner appropriate to the user is being investigated, including the use of mobile phones, the Internet, maps, car navigation systems, roadside rest areas, railway stations, airports, and harbors. In 2005, social experiments were conducted at EXPO 2005 Aichi and Kobe City.
