A field trial of a service by a private company to simplify ferry boarding procedures using ETC on-board units was carried out from November 2006 to January 2007 and is being carried out again since March 2007. With the service, users who have registered in advance can complete boarding procedures and payment in just 15 seconds, instead of the usual 15 minutes, also reducing the workload for ferry and harbor workers.
