The specifications of the ITS on-board unit, which can provide var- ious services, were decided and standardized in March 2007. Functionally, an ITS on-board unit consists of a DSRC block and a car navigation system block. The units will be available in three forms: integrated models, in which the DSRC and car navigation blocks are integrated, separated models, in which the blocks are separated, and single-type models, which consist of the DSRC block alone. Manufacturers can thus produce a range of products for users, and commercialization is awaited.
