To promote ITS, it is necessary to actively introduce ready-to-use ITS technologies in all regions. Some regions have already started developing ITS for local needs. We should cooperate with these regions and actively support them.

In order to provide advanced information and advanced road management, as well as support the revitalization of the regions, we will build local ITS promotion coalition, prepare standards and actively promote the introduction of ITS in the regions. The contents are as follows.

1) Build promotion systems.
MOC will build local ITS promotion coalition locally including creating a network with the parties involved (road management authorities, research institutes, universities and related government bodies and so forth).

2) Prepare guidelines and so forth.
MOC will prepare guidelines and so forth to ensure compatibility among regions and systems as well as the nationwide adaptability of ITS related technologies that are already in practical use.

3) Actively introduce ITS.
Taking local needs into account, MOC will actively promote the introduction of ITS related technologies based on the above guidelines and so forth in all regions.
Example: Improve road management by applying sensors and other equipment. Improve information communication networks. Computerize information such as roadway stations (Michi-no-eki). And so forth...
