Environmental Load Pricing

Traffic that runs through resident areas is directed to coastal areas. A different toll is applied to each toll road running in parallel, aiming at improving roadside environment.

Also, reducing the environmental impact of road use through the redirection of automobile traffic with “Environmental Load Pricing,” is addressed.
For example, in the Metropolitan Expressway, heavy vehicles using ETC that passes through the Bay shore/Kawasaki route is made lower than the toll on the Yokohane route. By redirecting traffic to the Bay shore route, the living environment of roadside residents of the Yokohane route is improved.

Creating Beautiful Road Scenery

The “Policy Outline to Create Beautiful Country”was established in 2003 and plans to create good road scenery is being addressed in road projects.
In order to eliminate electric poles and wires installed on narrow pedestrian ways, the “Electric Pole Elimination Plan” was established in collaboration with related organizations and the plan has been actively promoted.
Also, in order to create beautiful road space utilizing local resources, the following are being implemented: maintenance and formation of old town roads in cooperation with local communities, development of tourist road, and promotion of tree planting along roads.
