A framework of policy dialogs with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

A framework of policy dialogs with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on environmental issues in the transport sector

Nowadays, it is internationally important to address environmental issues in the transport sector. The international cooperation, and positive approach from countries that share common awareness are necessary for meeting those issues.
Advanced environmental policies have been promoted in the transport sector by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A framework to hold policy dialogs between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on environmental concerns in the transport sector was founded from the standpoint of facilitating a Japan-U.S. cooperated effort. The first meeting was held in Washington D.C. (U.S.) on November 16, 2004. We exchanged views and information on environmentally-friendly transportation systems, logistics systems, activities for maritime environmental protection, etc. Also the co-chairs' summation on the policy dialogs was put together.
