  Japan-U.S. Transport and Technology Cooperation
It was concluded to implement between Japan and the U.S. in February 1994 (signatory of Japan: Mr. Ito, Minister of Transport, signatory of U.S.: Mr. Federico Pena, Secretary of Transportation) for the purpose of building a comprehensive partnership in the overall transportation sector by providing cooperation on transport and technology that is beneficial for both countries. The experts meeting has been held ten times so far.
For the next meeting, the experts selected areas of cooperation involving the overall transport and technology aspects of railway, automobile, maritime affairs, harbor, aviation, and barrier-free sectors.
And through the meeting, they mutually introduced measureson their own transport and technology, and promoted mutual cooperation and the exchange of information.
In addition, at the Japan-U.S. summit meeting held in July 1993, this matter was placed as one of the areas of cooperation on the common agenda which was for prudent global cooperation in the Japan-U.S. framework talks on bilateral trade.
