The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) collected the measures that each country is taking on the themes discussed at the G7 Sustainable Urban Development Ministers’ Meeting in Takamatsu, Kagawa as Best Practices, and publicize the results to the world for the sustainable urban development. |
〇 From July 7th to 9th, 2023, the G7 Urban Development Ministers’ Meeting was held in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, for the first time in Japan, chaired by Minister Saito.
〇 At this meeting, under the theme of "Achieving Sustainable Urban Development Together," discussions were held in three sessions: "Net Zero, Resilience," "Inclusive," and "Digital." The outcomes of the meeting were compiled into a communiqué, and the "Kagawa-Takamatsu Principles," named after the host city, were announced as guidelines for collaboration with diverse actors to realize the communiqué.
〇 We have recently held a working-level meeting and collected best practices of measures that G7 countries and observer organizations are working on for each session theme. The results of the meeting will be published externally as attached for the development of sustainable urban policies not only in the G7 countries but also in developing countries.
