Total proceeds from the Hokkaido
tourism industry exceed that of agriculture and is expected to grow into
an industry to support the regional economy.
Blessed by majestic beauty, Hokkaido has four distinct seasons
providing a variety of hands-on tours and the development of lively outdoor
activities. Hokkaido is excellently equipped to fill the role of a tourist
spot where citizens of Japan can relax and is one of the places the people
most one to visit. For Hokkaido tourism to cope with the variety of needs
of the people of Japan many tourism resource details need to be developed
such as systems for using resources and dispatching information.
Furthermore, aimed at the rapid increase of foreign visitors
coming to Japan, the country is making an all out effort to present itself
as a tourism nation with a variety of promotion projects such as "Visit
Japan Campaign" which are popular not only among visitors from Japan
but also among visitors from Taiwan, China (Hong Kong), Korea, as well as

of Hokkaido's natural beauty and formation of a rich rural area, the tourism
industry in Hokkaido seems destined to grow.
Steps have been made to increase the beauty of the Shiretoko
region which is registered in the World Natural Heritage in 2005 as No.
