Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT) and the Board
of Audit of Japan, the new building is under construction via the
PFI scheme and will be completed in 2007.(Private Finance Initiative:

expertise in the construction of public facilities)
For this project, the private sector and authorities of this area
and MLIT made a committee for discuss the urban development plan of
this area. According to this committee’s report, the landscape
architecture and the historical character of this place is very important.
To create attractive urban environment, two high-rise towers surround
a central open area harmoniously with adjacent Kasumigaseki-Building(the
first skyscraper of Japan built in 1972), and one part of the former
building of MEXT built in the early years of the Showa era is restored
and reused.
