Construction of parallel runways at the New Tokyo International Airport

  <Future Direction>
1. As an interim measure, the airport is in the process of considering the construction of a 2200m runway as an extension in time for the holding of the World Cup Soccer at the beginning of summer in 2002 (to be completed in November 2001 and to be in-service in May 2002).

2. Continue to conduct further talks with the aim of early completion of the original 2500m parallel runway.
