Measures for the re-employment of JNR Settlement Corporation personnel
were completed on April 1, 1990 as the "Law Concerning Special Measures for
Promoting Re-employment of JNR Personnel Wishing to Leave JNR and JNR SC Personnel"
(Law No. 91, 1986) became invalid the same day. As a result, 1,047 personnel
were discharged. The JNR Settlement Corporation, upon its inauguration on April
1, 1987, had 18,877 personnel who needed re-employment, of whom 17,830 had quit
by April 1, 1990 for re-employment and other reasons.
