At present, the construction of physical distribution modernization terminals
and infrastructures for the sophistication of physical distribution is being
pushed forward in terms of the development of physical distribution bases. Again,
feasibility surveys are now being conducted in six areas throughout the country
in connection with plans to build satellite-type physical distribution bases
to contribute toward boosting the efficiency of physical distribution in major
urban regions. In addition, physical distribution network city projects are
being promoted on a commercial basis.
Furthermore, measures for the structural improvement of physical distribution
services, including their modernization and sophistication, are being promoted
in the interests of smaller enterprises.
With respect to physical distribution technologies, mechanization and automation
at physical distribution bases, and the active development and introduction
of technologies in the area of railway freight transport are making headway.
As regards the re-examination of the regulation of physical distribution
business, the "Trucking Business Law" and the "Freight Forwarding Business Law"
came into force on December 1, 1990. The Ministry of Transport will make the
laws known to all the circles concerned in a bid to ensure their smooth enforcement.
