Big Progress in Construction of New Shinkansen Lines

@ @ On December 19, 1994 cabinet ministers concerned reached an agreement on a review of the "New Shinkansen Program," deciding to (1) launch work to build the Morioka-Hachinohe route on Tohoku Shinkansen on a full scale, (2) carry out inspection for the preparation of a Shinkansen Station Toyama Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line and at Kumamoto Station on the Kyushu Shinkansen line, (3) launch a test-drilling survey for extra long length tunnels, and (4) complete a ''New Basic Scheme" to build new Shinkansen lines other than the "five sections In three lines " during 1996 Based on the decision, launching ceremonies were held at respective sites in May 1995.
