In order to publicize the appeal of travel to Japan, it is also very important to implement activities to effectively transmit information about our traditional culture and other aspects of Japan as so-called “Japan Brand” features, in order to attract foreign travelers to Japan. To that end, we have introduced a scheme of appointing “Tourism Ambassadors” to serve the role of indirectly supporting activities to promote inbound tourism to Japan by introducing Japanese culture to overseas countries, and on April 5 appointed Mr. Genshitsu Sen, the grand tea master of the Ura-Senke tea ceremony school, as the first “Tourism Ambassador.”
We expect that Mr. Sen will give us wide-ranging support in creating opportunities for people abroad to visit Japan by conveying information about the attractions of Japan at cultural exchange activities that he is actively deploying and in other ways.
