Visit Japan Promotions at Overseas “Watami” Locations

As a part of the 2012 Visit Japan project, the Japanese Tourism Agency (JTA) works with Japanese companies operating abroad and helds this Visit Japan Promotions for foreigners who like Japanese product and service brands.

The JTA will be working with the “Watami” chain, which has 44 restaurants in overseas locations such as Taiwan and Hong Kong. By collaborating with “Watami” International, which brings in 800,000 people every month, the JTA hopes to stimulate “Watami” fans in Taiwan and Hong Kong to visit Japan.


Promotions Overview;
The project described below aims to stimulate visitation from fans of Japanese cuisine through promotions at “Watami” locations in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Provide “Watami” locations in Taiwan and Hong Kong with posters, banners, and table tents promoting visitation to Japan

End-of-the-Year Party / New Year's Party Campaign
Promote the Japanese culture of Bo-nen kai (End-of-the-Year Party) and Shin-nen kai (New Year's Party). Travelers who visit Japan during the campaign period will receive gift certificates at the “Watami” locations nearest to them when they return home (requires valid proof of travel such as a receipt from Watami Japan or your photo at a Watami Japan location).
Campaign Period: October 15, 2012 – January 31, 2013

Lucky Draw Campaign (For Travelers who Liked Visit Japan on Facebook during the Campaign Period)

1 Special Japanese item on the menu at overseas locations. Hold a drawing for a trip to Japan as an End-of-the-Year/New Year's Party experience reporter.
Campaign Period: October 15, 2012 – October 31, 2012

2 Campaign participants can win set menu discounts, gift certificates for “Watami” in Japan, and tour packages to Japan.
Campaign Period: November 1, 2012 – January 31, 2013

3 New Year's Goodie Bags (including “Watami”(Japan and overseas) gift certificates and trips to visit Japan) can be won will be distributed at overseas locations
Campaign Period: January 31, 2013 – February 20, 2013


Through the activities listed above, the JTA will attract visitation to Japan by fans of Japanese cuisine.

* The JTA plans to continue with promotions in collaboration with Japanese companies whose businesses are successful overseas.
