Announcement of Prizewinners and Holding of Awards Ceremony for the WOW! Japan Campaign, which utilized Facebook ～3,265 participants from 87 countries and territories worldwide; 13,101 photographs submitted～

○ The Japan Tourism Agency utilized Facebook to hold the WOW! Japan Campaign from November 28, 2013 to January 31, 2014. 3,265 people participated, submitting 13,101 photographs. Furthermore, the campaign attracted around 400,000 fans on Facebook.
○ In this campaign, the Japan Tourism Agency asked foreign tourists to submit photos taken on their trips to Japan. It also asked Japanese citizens and foreign residents to submit articles about Japan’s appeal. As a result, it was possible to showcase a diverse range of Japan’s attractions to the world.
○ And now, along with inviting those participants who submitted outstanding photos to Japan to present them with their prizes, the prizewinners will also be treated to a unique experience that can only be enjoyed in Japan, helping to further promote Japan’s attractions. ※ Refer to Attachment 1 for the prize-winning photos.
○ Specifically, after taking part in the awards ceremony a total of five individuals who were awarded the Grand Prize and Runners-Up Prizes are scheduled to be treated to a fireworks viewing on a houseboat as part of a special event.

・We ask that individuals who wish to cover the awards ceremony and the houseboat fireworks viewing for media purposes please fill in Attachment 2 (the Media Coverage Application Form) and contact the Public Relations Affairs Bureau by Wednesday, March 12
※If a large number of media coverage applications are received, adjustments may be made to the number of media personnel permitted onboard the houseboat.
※If the weather remains bad even if the event is postponed until Wednesday, March 19, it will be held based on an amended program.
