In order to create a safe and smooth travel environment for visitors from outside the city and for elderly and disabled people in the region, Kita-kyushu City has experimentally introduced an ITS for Pedestrian in which combines the existing barrier-free facilities with ITS technologies.
In this system, various information, including the locations of barrier-free facilities and routes in the Kokura district of the city, was provided via such media as the Internet, mobile phone with Internet access, and information terminals installed at public facilities such as stations and event venues.
