Activities for domestic standardization

The international standardization of ITS has been discussed at the 12 working groups (WG) under TC (Technical Committee) 204 of ISO (International Organization of Standardization). To keep pace with the activities of ISO/TC 204, the ISO/TC 204 National Committee was founded in Japan. In order to 1) take swift action in response to changes in the standardization environment; 2) implement standardization activities in accordance with preset strategies; 3) assist the registration of ITS technologies as JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard); and 4) provide related parties with up-to-date information, the committee has gone through a unique structural reform and changed its name recently to the ITS Standardization Committee. In addition to the existing departments which correspond to the working groups of ISO/TC 204, the new committee has created several in-house sections and posts in charge of activities with special purposes and strategies, such as business teams and liaison persons.
