This Working Group deals with issues in the APEC transportation field. In the 3rd APEC Ministerial Meeting, it was established to enhance efficiency and safety in the region's transportation system. Since October 1991, it has usually been held biannually. The 3rd Working Group was held in Tokyo and the 18th Working Group was held in Miyazaki.

In the 29th APEC Transportation Working Group (July 2007 in Taipei), the following issues, which were directed at the 5th APEC Transportation Ministerial Meeting (March 2007 in Adelaide, Australia), were discussed.
In the Experts' Group Meeting on Maritime, Ports and Harbors, which we serve as chairman, we make an effort to promote mutual understandings and WTO negotiations by leading active discussions regarding the liberalization of marine transport. We also make a great contribution to extract mutual issues and draw up action plans to improve capability and efficiency regarding harbor investment.
The next meeting is supposed to be held in April 2008 in Manila.
