2.1.2 Council for Ports and Harbors

The Council for Ports and Harbors was established under the Council for Ports and Harbors Regulation, with sectional meetings for planning and management formed under this council. The Planning Sectional Meeting assesses and deliberates on plans regarding the development of ports and shipping channels, while the Management Sectional Meeting deliberates on other important issues related to port management. The Council for Ports and Harbors may adopt sectional meeting resolutions. The Planning Sectional Meeting primarily assesses Port development plans, while the Management Sectional Meeting responds to inquiries from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. These responses are particularly important as they represent the course that port development will take in Japan.
