The Rebirth Of Sea Transport - Fast, Efficient, Environmentally Friendly Maritime Freightage

To be more in tune with the structure of supply, industry, and circulation systems (global logistics system) of domestic and international corporations for the international distribution of goods, it is imperative that the lead time and cost for domestic transportation be reduced and a regular schedule set. A new proposal is being considered for a system where the cost of transportation from the point of unloading to a distribution center and the likelihood of congestion for the distribution of goods is kept to a minimum. Appropriate considerations for local and national view points must also be made when looking at a proposal to streamline the handling of cargo. Also we must look at the role of IT, making improvements to administration and management, introducing a 24-hour operation capability, improving the transportation infrastructure, and making an international benchmark transport infrastructure. A strategic approach with an international cooperation must also be employed in the plan to improve the nation's international distribution system.
