4. Improving the Diversity
of Motor Vehicle Services In the field of large volume transport there should be a development of a new motor vehicle service that meets various public transport demands. (a) In urban Areas1 and regional areas1 the demand for aged nursing care is increasing. The need for special transport services (STS), such as welfare taxis is drastically increasing. We need to set appropriate standards for the various public transport needs and provide efficient services. <Proposal> Transport and welfare policies, the role of the national governments and associations, public transport needs and environmental effects must first be addressed before services such as welfare taxis are put into place. With this in mind, standardization of vehicle specifications will be carried out in order to reduce the cost of vehicles and IT to improve driving efficiency. (b) For regional areas with insufficient public transport system, school and welfare buses can by utilized in many ways to improve the mobility of those who don't have access to the own means of transport. This will be essential to improve mobility within the community. |

5. Improving Transport in Tourist
Areas The result of a large number of cars converging on one spot is traffic congestion and environmental problems. Responding to local circumstances and searching for ways to improve traffic flow in tourist areas is a must. <Proposal> A study on the use of family cars in tourist areas should be conducted. Regional and environmental groups, and the police need to work together to develop regulations supporting TDM8 policy to deal with the problems associated with the convergence of automobile traffic in tourist areas. |
