2. Operation conditions of oceangoing shippingent erprises

@ @ In observing the operation conditions of oceangoing shipping enterprises on 44 companies, we find that they enjoyed favorable earnings of 84.8 billion yen in recurring profit due to reasons such as the freight market conditions becoming of record-breaking high standard upon renecting the world-wide activeness of maritime cargo movement and the freight income increased under yen conversion as it was of dollar high and yen low basis in the latter part of the fiscal year.
@ @ On freight charge market conditions, however, the tanker market has already a sudden drop and the tramp market has also started to drop. In the future, a world-wide overtonnage centered around tankers can be expected and the market does not warrant any optimism. In addition, the shipping enterprises of Japan conceive various cost increase factors such as harbor forwarding charges, repairing expenses, etc., including soaring of fuel expenses and mariner expenses and it is deemed that the future operation circumstances will become severe.
