(Freight Transport)

　 　 Volume of freight transport by cars in fiscal 1974 in shown in (Table 1-(2)-2). Compared to the previous fiscal year, tons of freight hauled fell by ll% and ton-kilometers by 7%, registering two consecutive years of decline in large magnitude.
　 　 This was occasioned by the extended economic recession since oil crisis, with the notable decrease in freight transport by privately owened cars. Itemwise, weight is heavy for products of mining and manufacturing in transport volume with agricultural and marine products diving in transport volume compared to the previous fiscal year in the continuous declining trend as in (Table 1-(2)-3).
