(Development of Transport lnfrastructures)

　 　 As to the road, road construction was in progress based on several rounds of 5 year plan for road construction. As the result, paved road ratio among general national high ways increased from 59.0% at the end of fiscal 1965 to 90.6% at the end of fiscal 1974 (Table 1-(2)-4). As for national highways, the development was carried on by Japan Highway Public Corporation, of which the status as of October, 1975 consists of 1837 kilometers available for use including Meishin and Tomei, and 3,300 kilometers under construction including Tohoku Jukan, Chuo and Chugoku Jukan (Fig. 1-(2)-5).
