2. Toward the Revitalization of Air Transport

    (1) Revitalization of Air Transport
Early completion of the "Big Three Airports" and the construction of relevant facilities are the most important problem to deal with in coping with demand for air transport which is expected to increase from now on. It is also no less important for airlines to step up their supply capacities to counter increases in demand for air transport and to wrestle vigorously with the further strengthening of their management structure with the competitive business environment in mind, which is expected to develop following the completion of three major airport construction projects.
    (2) Improvement of International Air Service Route Networks
As regards future international air service route networks, there is a need to promote the internationalization of local airports and the multiplier diversification of international air service networks with consideration given to the progress of a second-phase construction work at New Tokyo International Airport and construction work on Kansai International Airport.
