Japanese Minister Tetsuo Saito

Following the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will host the G7 Sustainable Urban Development Ministers’ Meeting in Takamatsu, Kagawa from July 7 to 9.
Cities in the world are currently facing a number of challenges including climate change and frequent disasters, Biodiversity loss, etc.
In addition, various disparities must be eliminated to provide inclusive environments for every people's activities.
Moreover, we must utilize digitalization and other rapid technological innovations properly.

I believe that cities play a huge role in resolving the global challenges.
I would like Takamatsu, Kagawa to become a venue to discuss measures toward realising sustainable cities and resolving various issues through worldwide efforts, and to pledge cooperation with other G7 countries.
This Meeting is also an opportunity to introduce the charms of Japan, particularly, Kagawa and Takamatsu to the world.
The Seto Inland Sea is renowned as a “Jewel of the World.”Islands, protected by the sea, offer enchanting landscapes.
The Sanuki Plains promise their harvest in every season of the year.
Together with the people in Kagawa, we will let the world know the charms of Kagawa and Takamatsu, which are blessed with warm and comfortable climate, with the aim of increasing inbound demand, which has weakened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will make every effort toward the success of the Meeting. I hope you could give your attention to the meeting. Thank you.
