NAKANO Minako

Timeless Kagawa Awaits You

Hello, everyone. My name is NAKANO Minako and I am an announcer. I was born in Marugame City in Kagawa Prefecture where I lived until graduating from high school. I moved to Tokyo to go to university. I worked at Fuji Television Network, Inc. for about 10 years and then moved to Singapore for my husband’s job where we lived for six years. I returned to Kagawa in 2021 after living in Hiroshima.

Since I started working, days had passed at an almost unimaginable dizzying pace. Even though I’ve always wanted to be a part of this world, the staggering volume of information together with my routine pre-3AM wake-up time each morning and crossing Rainbow Bridge in total darkness left me mentally drained at times, in stark contrast to the smiling face I showed on TV.

In the midst of all this, the air of the Seto Inland Sea refreshed my mind.
With the view of the sparkling Seto Island Sea from above and the beautiful rice ball-like mountains, I was enveloped in a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere from the moment I got off the plane, which gave me an indescribable sense of security. I felt the same in Singapore, an easy place to raise children with lots of space for them to play. However, since it is directly below the equator, we spent all year in short sleeves and sandals. Singapore is seasonless, so when I look back on memories with my children, I can’t remember what month anything happened (laughter).

I returned to Kagawa, and when I have time I take my children to the aquarium, Sanuki Manno Park and the Japan Dolphin Center. What a luxury it is to see the flowers change with the seasons and the colors of the sea, and feel the slightly chilly seaside air.
No matter how your lifestyle changes or what situation you find yourself in, the Setouchi region remains as accepting as ever. It’s a place where you can be yourself.
The Setouchi region may lack some of the conveniences you can find in urban areas and may not be as exciting or stimulating as abroad. But, those slight inconveniences or parts that could be a bit better can also be delightful, almost like watching your children grow up.

This year, the G7 Sustainable Urban Development Ministers' Meeting will be held in Kagawa, Takamatsu.
Let’s turn this land into a wonderful home for the children of the future by working together to protect all of Kagawa’s best qualities and build a sustainable area that people want to come back to and live in.
