Advanced traffic management systems have been deployed on expressways, to process traffic information smoothly so as to ensure safe and smooth traffic flow.
Various road information is collected by numerous sensors such as vehicle detectors, TV cameras for traffic control, weather surveillance equipment, road surface hygrometer, road surface thermometer, ultrasonic snow depth measuring device, a snowfall detector, and a rainfall sensor. Collected road data is processed at traffic control centers, and then provided to drivers through various message signs installed along the roads.
