The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the Ministry of Transport of
the People's Republic of China (PRC) held “the 38th Japan-China Road Meeting” on September 11,
2024.
In this meeting, we exchanged knowledge concerning “Smart road”, “Utilization of new
technologies”, “Disaster management and disaster recovery”. We also confirmed the continuous
exchange of technology between Japan and China.

On October 7, 2024, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Japan, and
the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), India, held “The 10th meeting of Japan-India
Joint Working Group on the Roads and Road Transportation Sector” in New Delhi, India. In this
meeting, we shared knowledge concerning “road planning”, “earthquake countermeasures for bridges”,
and “road pavement maintenance and management” and confirmed that we would continue technical
exchange of views between Japan and India.
On October 9, 2024, MLIT held the “Japan-India Road Engineering Seminar” for the first time in
Mumbai, in collaboration with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA)
etc. The seminar focused on “road bridge construction and maintenance” and included project
introductions from the Indian side and PR for Japanese technologies from the Japanese side.

A seminar was held based on the “Memorandum on Cooperation on Roads between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Ministry of Transportation in Vietnam” in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2008. Ever since, the seminar has been held almost every year.

On February 10th, The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) organized an online "Japan-Indonesia International Conference on Toll Road O&M Technologies" with supoort of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Indonesia.
In this conference, the participants shared the latest situation of toll roads in Indonesia, Japanese technologies and approaches to the operation and maintenance of expressways, and also confirmed that both the public and private sectors will continue to cooperate with each other in this field.

On December 6, 2024, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of the Philippines held the “The Japan-Philippines 3rd Workshop for Technical and Business Cooperation on the Road Construction and Operation & Maintenance (O&M)” in Manila, the Philippines. A celebration ceremony was also held for Secretary Bonoan, DPWH , who received the JSCE International Contribution Award in June this year. At the workshop, presentations were made on technologies and initiatives related to road construction and O&M from both countries, and an exchange meeting was also held to promote business matching between private companies from both countries.
MLIT will continue to promote the public-private technical cooperation in the road sector in both countries.
