 Japan-India cooperation for the improvement of connectivity between ports and arterial railways for freight transport

An improvement project of arterial railways for freight transport (Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata) is an important and cooperative issue among Japanese and Indian leaders. The project has been in progress to meet the rapidly increasing demand of freight transport in India.
The construction of a transportation system which seamlessly connects India internationally and domestically is important for achieving the function of this arterial railway for freight transport.
For this reason, the Japan-India Working Group for the improvement of connectivity between ports and arterial railways for freight transport was established by officials form both member countries, and aimed at strengthening the connectivity of arterial railways for freight transport with logistics infrastructure including ports.
