Introducing the Role of the Minato (Port) —The Foundation of Our Lifestyles

〜We guide you around the port and airport on the port service vessel “Kurushima”〜

Matsuyama Port is located almost in the exact center of Ehime Prefecture, and has long flourished and developed as a gateway to the sea for the prefecture and Matsuyama City, and as a transportation hub connecting Hanshin, Chugoku, and Kyushu. Sitting behind Matsuyama Port, Matsuyama City has the largest population of any city in Shikoku, and is the site of a wide range of industries, including chemicals, textiles, electrical equipment, and agricultural machinery.

At present (as of July 18, 2019), Matsuyama Airport offers nine domestic flights (Sapporo, Haneda, Narita, Chubu, Kansai, Itami, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, and Naha) and three international flights (Shanghai, Seoul and Taipei). The airport has the highest number of users in Chugoku and Shikoku, with 3 million recorded in 2017 and 2018.
In emergencies, both Matsuyama Port and Matsuyama Airport are expected to function as bases for the transportation of materiel and personnel.

The Matsuyama Port and Airport Maintenance Office conducts numerous educational activities regarding subjects including the port, the airport and the marine environment to enable the general public to understand the role played by the port. Onboard the port service vessel “Kurushima,” visitors are able to see scenes of Matsuyama Port and Matsuyama Airport in use, which would not normally be possible.
