The Hoheikyo Dam

Experience the Power of a Discharge Demonstration at the Northernmost Arch Dam in Japan

〜Experience the thrill of the Hoheikyo Dam〜

The Hoheikyo Dam is located within the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. It is an arch-type concrete dam located in a quiet valley near Jozankei Hot Springs, about a one-hour drive from Sapporo, the northernmost large city of Japan.

Because it is located within a national park, areas beyond the parking lot at the dam’s entrance can only be accessed by electric bus, in order to protect the environment.

The contrast between the dam and the first green of summer or fall colors is beautiful and many people come to see it each year.
