Kannonsaki Lighthouse, Lighting Up the Sea for 151 Years!

〜Japan’s first Western-style lighthouse〜

The Kannonsaki Lighthouse is the first Western-style lighthouse in Japan, and construction began on the Miura Peninsula on November 1, 1868. This lighthouse, designed by French designer Léonce Verny, has unparalleled brightness and greatly contributed to the internationalization and modernization of Japan.

Currently the third-generation lighthouse, built in 1925, lights up the sea.

The Kannonsaki Lighthouse conducts tours through Tokokai to raise awareness of the navigational beacon business, and allows visitors to climb up the lighthouse and enjoy the scenery. There is also an exhibition room where you can learn about the history of the lighthouse and mechanism of the lenses and lights.
