Shimanto River Nature Restoration Project Seeking to Restore the Original Scenery of the Shimanto River

〜Experience nature season by season〜

The Nakamura Office of River and National Highway is conducting the Shimanto River Nature Restoration Project in an attempt to restore the attractive natural environment of the Shimanto River, which is being lost.
As part of its efforts, in the Iriya area along the river, the project has felled trees and trimmed undergrowth on the riverbank as a river restoration project in an area of shallows that serves as a sweetfish spawning ground, improving the flow of the river. The sunlight now diffuses more widely through the trees, and rapeseed flowers sprout and blossom naturally.
Today, this area has become established in the region as the venue for the Rape Flower Festival, one of the largest spring events in Shimanto City.
